Anyone think SH is the best videogame series ever made? I know theres a lot of excellent franchises to choose from but to me SH is the best. It reasonates with me more than most games simply because u play an ordinary guy/girl with ordinary problems.

The story & atmosphere is always fantastic, better than most overhyped space marine bs u see a lot of. Along with GTA, SH is my favourite franchise

It's one of my favorites. And yeah, there are a lot that I love, and depending on my mood, some of which I love more or less. If I had to choose, though, I'd have to got with Uncharted. The over all effect of the dramatization coupling with the gameplay was just too spot on to deny. And I just love that dirty ol' man :lol:

I think the thing that docks Silent Hill a general point is just the "look" camera. It really doesn't help much most of the time. I mean, I had to fight with that thing just to look where I wanted to most of the time, and it would never give me a clear shot of directly in front of me; always wanting to veer to the left or right. Silent Hill 1 had the alternate over the shoulder look camera, and that was perfect, but then it disappeared (at least until Homecoming, heh heh).

I think it's one of the best...simply because this series is still holding on to it's roots...even with the newer games with the intense pressure of how most horror games today are all action, this series has still managed to stay true at it's core. RE may be the more popular series and i do like the RE series, but i'll always pick the SH series over RE any day of the week.

It certainly one of the best. Along with HL series and GTA series.

Ye, theres a certain comfort I get from playing a SH game. The comfort of playing an ordinary protaganist pitted in a world of demonic corruption. Its endearing playing a quiet, unassuming priest-mannered James or an ordinary convict in murphy with his ordinary black hoodie 8-)

It's up there. I'd have to weigh it against Prince of Persia and Dragon Age.

The Megaman Anniversary and Megaman X Collections are my favorite video game collections ever released. I had great gif of Megaman running for my avatar here, but it got lost in a sea of images...

Eh, not the best, but it is up there. I don't think I could ever pick a single series as 'best series in video gaming'. The one that comes to mind when I type that is Final Fantasy, but even then, best in all of gaming? Eh.

I don't play many games compared to the rest of you, but I can honestly say that it's my favorite series of all time.
It's not for everyone, though, and I've come to terms with that.

SH & GTA reasonates with everyone, wereas Final Fantasy reasonates if ur a particular fan of JRPGs which im not 8-)

Whats infuriating is that Konami own 2 of the most respected IPs in SH & Metal Gear yet they're 1 of the most corrupt in terms of decision making

Me too. How can you people even compare some stupid GTA with SH! Heresy.
Personally like: SH, Dino Crisis, ResEvil, Obscure, Alice, Fahrenheit, Jurassic Park, Turok, Siren.
Don't think it's the best game series, just good on it's own (like others i mentioned).
Also i believe if SH wants to survive, new developers must forget about classic conceptions and look in Shattered Memories direction (less concentration on the town itself, more on people's psychology).

Not just the best, but one of the most complex and with most effort and work put into. In every game.

It's not my all-time-favorite series, but it's definitely up there for me. In my top five, perhaps.

Best video game series??? Hmmm, that's a tough one. I think that both Silent Hill and Resident Evil have stood the test of time and are both very good game series. In my opinion it's to close to choose one over the other, so it's a tie.
