She's watched it, loved it, told me she's got a PS2, and tomorrow I'm lending her Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 to play. Ahh, my work is done :)

In time, she too will join us on the SH Community... in time...

Well done brother for harbouring more recruits!

I live to serve Silent Hill :o
It isn't a dream, you only heard yourself
The means of your life, create and melt
In front of you, beneath closed lids
The path to freedom, Nirvana, here sits

Sometimes I feel pretty alone when it comes to being a Silent Hill fan, yeah. Most of my friends know what the series is and they know that I enjoy it, but other than that, they really don't care about it. The few that participate in the SH tabletop role-play game I run don't really even understand why a lot of things are the way that they are. I'm not even sure why they play *laughs*. My friends are more into Call of Duty, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy games and haven't ever even touched a Silent Hill game. I'm the only Silent Hill fan within my group of friends, unfortunately, and I am not sure if the games are very popular in the tiny Pennsylvania town I live in.
It kind of makes me feel the slightest bit of sadness when I make a reference to the series and no one catches it.
As you wish, you may destroy me
---I wouldn't care.

Wow, there's a Silent Hill role-play game? Or is this something you've created yourself? Either way, sounds amazing, so please tell me more.... :o

Ah, I run a game using the base rules from the Call of Cthulhu RPG (5th Edition), modified to fit Silent Hill. I use town maps (pulled from game screen-shots) and I use information about my players' characters to help spin a story and create riddles and puzzles. Call of Cthulhu provided rules and Silent Hill provided atmosphere and guidelines. I'm just the GM.

I create my own NPCs, but sometimes I like to make characters from the games make cameos and I like to make references to people like Stanley Coleman and Ernest Baldwin. It happens pretty rarely, though. The people I run for don't get the references anyway.

As for an official SH RP game, I don't think one exists. If I remember correctly, someone on SHC (I can't recall who exactly) mentioned something about running a tabletop game using the same system. I'm not so sure how well it worked for them, but in my experience, it works pretty well.

Sorry for the delayed reply, by the way. I haven't really had a chance to be online recently.

This sounds amazing, though I haven't played tabletops in a while.

Answer to original post: No, I don't feel like the only one who knows about the game locally. I tend to know a lot of people who love to game, so Silent Hill might come up in one of our conversations.
My name is Legion, for we are many.

I made the effort to borrow other Silent Hill games to another gamer. But he wasn't having any of it. I did meet a woman who played the games, but "MIXED SIGNALS ALERT!!!* she wanted the games to be made by the Japanese... although she loved Homecoming.
So if that's my company, I'll gladly be the only person I know IRL to play Silent Hill! :D
