SECRET!!!!!!!!

And Scarlet...

You know what would be bloody hilarious? If someone revealed that Team Silent worked on all of the post-TS games under pseudonyms JUST to get this exact fanboy reaction.

I know I'd do that.

I would die laughing for a week straight if that happened. So many people would commit suicide, LOL. It'd be Suicide Club 2.0

Have any of you played Final Fantasy? The original? Games change. They are franchises. They only game that was allowed to keep its integrity was metal gear. kojima must be royal blood or something, everyone else's intellectual property gets butchered. If team silent was still around, the game would be different now, because yhe original concept would be stale. That is life. Stuff gets old.

I'm pretty sure everyone here gets that. And Metal Gear changed a lot game to game as well; Metal Gear 1 & 2 -> MGS1, MGS1 -> MGS2, etc. Lots of major gameplay changes and whatnot. Nothing new.

MGS was really story based...all 4 of the games connected, and they were all action/stealth games. FF's stories were separate from each other. Except for the X-2 games.

Contrary to popular belief, there are more to the mythos than just the "core 4" Solid series. AS NarooN mentioned, there is Metal Gear 1 & 2. Then, you have to account for the MAJOR changes made for the PSP games (Portable Ops and Peace Walker). Those games had some pretty radically different gameplay developments (it added team-based/squad-based gameplay). I actually liked them, though.

FF stories are separate, but don't forget the MANY spinoffs in addition to X-2 (XIII-2, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Versus XII, Agito XIII: It had a different release name, Dissidia, and there were a few spinoffs based on IV, too).

The core gameplay has changed drastically in FFs. Justifying it with a new story doesn't change the fact that the game shifts with each title. Square has more of a license to dramatically change gameplay with each iteration; new characters, new gameplay, new world. Nothing has to stay to same. With a series that is inter-connected, you have to keep some elements that make fans happy (along with new things to keep them busy and ways to attract new fans). Square does the same with FF, too. They keep some of the basic lore, creatures, items, summons, and other tidbits and carry them from title to title.

And who knows? Maybe all of the FFs occur in the same universe (but on different planets and/or continents).

I know I'd shit a brick.

I know I'm off-topic here, but Final Fantasy Fun Fact:

Final Fantasy VII takes place several generations after the events of Final Fantasy X and X-2, and also on a different planet. It's alluded to in X-2 (speak to Shinra late in Chapter 5) and confirmed in an Ultimania interview. Pretty crazy.

I never finished X-2 so I never picked up on this.

Very interesting...

Mind = blown

I actually wanted to play X-2 last year, but then I realized that my disc and case disappeared into nowhere. I beat it many many years ago (2003 and again in 2004 I think), so it's been a while. I'm not that big of a FF fan, but FFX was the first PS2 game I got, and that was Jan. 2002. I loved the characters and especially the universe of Spira. Fantastic design and soundtrack on that game.

OMG YOU GUYSES THIS IS LIKE THE BESTEST NEW EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111oneoneone!!!!!!1111111one!!!!!1111111oneoneoneone1one

TEAM SILENT IS BACK FOR SILENT HILL 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

REVEAL SPOILER
Shh... don't remind anyone about what today is...

My copy of X-2 got severely scratched up when I let my friend borrow it many eons ago. It's never worked since. :( I never beat XII, either. I haven't beat XIII yet, but I got crazy discouraged with it. FFX and Kingdom Hearts were my first two PS2 games. Bittersweet memories... :')

EDIT: Let's bring this topic back to Silent Hill, shall we?

I lol'd so hard while watching this. In my opinion, this is the true canon ending to Silent Hill 2.

Well. There was a change between SH4 and SH5, and the fans knew about that change, and the game didn't live up to expectations so everyone blames it on the big thing that we all know changed. I have a feeling that if it had been any other team to design it first or some other big thing that changed, people would blame it on that change in that case too. Cause and effect logic I guess.

And that article is the perfect April Fool's joke for this fandom. :P

Take control of Eddie who somehow survived SH2 with Heather as his co-op partner = LMAOWAT

I didn't beat FFXII either. I got it right when it came out for my bday I think, the case & disc are in mint-condition to this day lol. Didn't like anything about it, honestly.

@Waverer and NarooN; glad you enjoyed it. :D I think the fanbase would accept it (especially if Team Silent was behind it).

Same, actually. I got it for my birthday and I was a happy lad back then. It didn't live up to any of my expectations (but FFX left such a grand impression). It's my favorite behind VIII; it was my first and I STILL love going back and playing the card game.

The FF series is a perfect of example of a burnt-out series that has kept the same developer. I personally think that the game really suffered after the merger of Square and Enix.

And that video there... "DIE TRIANGLE BOY DIE!"

It took me awhile to get into FFXII, but the second time I started on it something just "clicked" and I absolutely loved it, I did literally everything in that game. Though there were some aspects of the battle system that could have been done better...

I want to bring one fact. Even if Team Silent was still making SH games, that does not mean that they would be good. You can't make good stuff all the time.

I'll list several people: Takashi Shimizu, Hideo Nakata, Dario Argento.

Do you think they made masterpieces all the time? They created some bad stuff too, especially poor Argento, he really lost his touch.

I've never seen anyone say they want the series developed by some random japanese studio but Team Silent.

That kind of thinking that any Japanese studio will do is more prevalent than you think. But true, not every fan has the same idea.
