FFVII & SHH (SPOILERS FOR BOTH)

Post by Lilith on Mon Aug 03, 2015 4:17 am

SHH is just a FFVII rip off... Especially, protag wise... Here me out.

    Cloud:
    -Thought he was in SOLDIER.
-Copied the moves of a SOLDIER because he thought he was one.
    -Has false memories
-Is delusional, confused, and others know it. (Aerith, maybe, she would've eventually figured it out. Tifa knows for sure.)
-Person he admired betrays him, now a villain.
-Obsessed with antagonist for reasons that he thought were true, but weren't.
-Manifest antag through darkness in his heart. Maybe. (Kingdom Hearts)
-Major plot twist is his connection to the antag and the reality of what happened.
-Is generally insane, hears voices that tell him to do stuff, and shoves his party members into a submarine torpedo shoot to "save" them.
-Is related to the character he is obsessed with. (Through Jenova.)
    -Made in bad graphics.

    Alex
    -Thought he was a soldier.
-Copied moves of a soldier because he thought he was one.
    -Has false memories
-Also, delusional and confused with others knowing about it. (Mom, dad, etc)
-Main person doesn't betray him per se, but is now also a "villain". (Thus, his "image" betrays him of his brother.)
-Also, obsessed with his bro for reasons that are not what he thinks is.
-Also, manifests antag through darkness in his heart.
-Main plot twist is the reality of what happened to his brother, and his connection to it. What really happened...
-Is generally insane and probably was in the hospital for it before he went back home.
-Is related to the character he obsesses over. (brother)
    -Made in bad graphics.

This is off the top of my head. There's probably more. Also, they do play FF because SH1 had keys with the names of GFs from FFVIII.

Hey, now we know that both Wheeler and Barret are stereotypical black guys. But one is funnier than the other. Barret is totally Mr.T.

Well, that's because...

FFVII & SHH (SPOILERS FOR BOTH)

Lol "made in bad graphics".

FFVII had reason to look blocky and..well...not so great...because of technological boundaries at the time. "Pushing the limits" as you could say. But HC had no excuse for looking so bad on a flippin' PS3, especially considering past titles on past consoles looked far better.

And a contrast: most people consider FFVII to be the best in that series, and most people consider HC to be the worst in that series.

Although I'm in the minority camp that thinks FF8 is the best FF. We're a small minority.

FFVII & SHH (SPOILERS FOR BOTH)

Actually, FF8 sold more. So, I am not sure that's entirely true. My mom for example, loves 8 more than 7.

And I agree, the bad graphics thing was a joke. The main problem with 7 wasn't the tech boundaries per se but that it was being developed for a system that was essentially scrapped, that's one of the reasons O is confirm and X is not. Gawd, I hope they take that out in the remake. (If you change the config in 7 to make it "correct", it starts glitching out in certain areas.)

Both games are hella glitchy though and you cannot excuse the blame there on 7.

There's also lots of birth symbolism in both games.

I have never thought about this until now..... ...good stuff Purr!!.....I'm not really into any of the FF games...I have only liked 7 and right now I can't be bothered with turn-based RPG's....I will admit tho, that i'am looking forward to the remake of FF7.... 8-)
Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding....these are the basic fundamentals of life....

If you can't amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t...

FFVII & SHH (SPOILERS FOR BOTH)

Maybe a few years down the line, after Konami sells the IP, someone can give Homecoming the ol' Remake treatment, and done right. As much shit as I throw at HC, I'm telling ya that game really had a lot of very interesting themes and ideas that they didn't expand upon. The simple idea of a soldier with PTSD returning home and Silent Hill fucking with that person's head...that could have been some intense and awesome stuff. But instead we got Homecoming. A name synonymous with failed potential.

Can you believe that game is like almost a decade old? That's nuts.

Pre-thread I remembered this. During the thread I conveniently forgot for some reason.

I thought that was just a Japanese thing. Most Japanese games are and were like that, with "circle" being used for confirm and "cross" used for cancel or "no". MGS1 was the same way in non-JP regions, threw me for a loop as a kid because it took me a whole day to figure out how to start the damn game! I'd hit "Start" to get off the title screen and then press X on New Game and just end up right back at the title screen. I was like "WTF IS THIS SHIT" Of course after I read the manual I realized what the correct buttons were, but holy shit.
