- 1:38 - Wish they'd kept this dialouge in, I think an extended conversation with that woman in the hotel would have been interesting.

-5:56 - I'm just wondering whether at some point your relationship with Elle could change depending on your actions and different dialogue was supposed to reflect that.

That is pretty cool. hey thanks for posting it bro. It would be sweet if they would have kept the "die you %@$# bitch!" line in the game, but can see why it was taken out.

Thanks for sharing it with us Roller.

Cool but uhm what did Alex say, then? I thought that's what he said, I always remember Homecoming as being kinda overkill in language like that compared to other entries, from Wheeler throughout and Alex mostly towards the end...?

Yup, I have to agree with you on that one. Homecoming is pretty heavy on the dialogue, (It's like watching a Quentin Tarantino movie). I'm just kidding, it's not that hardcore on the dialogue. Anyways, it doesn't really bother me to much and I don't think it really effected the game play in a negative way. I really like Homecoming and still think it is one of the better SH titles, plus I love the sound track to it. The music is just awesome, 10 out of 10 for the musical score for the game.

Actually, the last part reminds me very much of this:

Some of the imagery feels familiar too and part of the plot fits to Scarlet. The lady in the hotel could be Mary. At least it sounds like it. Mary here, Mary there.

I said it could be. At least she sounds inspired by her (SH2 Mary). There are similarities.

Don't wanna whine but Homecoming was definetly more explicit than others as far as language goes, I don't remember terms like "sick fuck" or even "fucking ..." being thrown around in any other entry. Alex says bitch at least a bunch of times and Wheeler's primary purpose in the game was obviously mostly to say "shit". It's not that I mind per se but it struck me as sort of overkill in wanting to be cool, appealing to a wider audience and all that. I''m sure there are much worse games, but I don't think any other SH game held a match to it in that sense...

Alex says "Bitch" once, just as Heather does, given the fact that Heather and Vincent both call Claudia a "Bitch" out loud.
And there's no "fucking..." in Any SH game if im not wrong. And let's face it, most of people would have a potty mouth in a Silent Hill situation :D

If it was me in any of these situation (in any of the SH games) I would be dropping F-bombs left and right. I don't see how you couldn't considering all of the crazy shit that would be going on around you. Do I think it's necessary to have that kind of language in the game? No not really, but a "shit or a fuck" every now and again is fine with me. It's just when they go over board with it. Then it's like they are almost glorifying it, an it will tend to lose the impact it has, when used repeatedly. That's just how I look at it.

Yeah, HC was a foul-mouthed game, but it seemed realistic to me. A lot of people swear when strong emotions arise; anger, sadness, shock, etc. I don't think they overdid it though, at least not in the final game. It's like when people complain about profanity in war games, I'm like "really?" That's not directed at you of course, just relevant to the discussion. ;)

Homecoming didn't overkill the dialogue, it was realistic and sympathetic to the characters.

I really don't see why some people have a problem with foul language. I mean, do they expect that when character is angry or injured to say "gosh" or "darn"?

I myself, don't see a problem at all with it. My thing is when it gets used repeatedly then it will tend to lose the impact it has. I think Homecoming didn't go overboard with the profanity. I think it was just the right amount and actually really like the dialogue and soundtrack for that matter. I just don't like it when it gets over used in things because then there basically glorifying it and does end up having less of an impact. It's like if I'm talking and say "fuck" every once in a while that's fine but if it's coming out of my mouth every other word your probably going to think I'm an idiot. That's the difference and that's all I was getting at.

@rollerfan222 well, he also says son of a bitch once, and you're right, he doesn't say "fucking" at any point, but he does say "fuck" several times, and IMO calling someone "sick fuck" sounds harsher than, for example, "fucking bastard", so that was my point more or less.

[rant]Like I said in my other post, the point is not profanity in the games at all, first off I myself am probably one of the most foul-mouthed people I've known in my life and second, it's preposterous to focus on something like that amidst the gore and violence and poor writing and ugly hair animation in Homecoming. I'm just saying the amount of 'profanities' was most certainly unprecedented in the series and to me, it did feel a little cheap. And I'm mostly talking about Wheeler. It didn't feel all that 'off' to me with Alex or with Heather in SH3, it did with Wheeler. He just feels like a token black character only there to drop some sassy quips, and it's a little offensive. Not even so much to black people or anything, but basically to the consumer in general. I didn't pay 50 bucks for some poorly-written 80s odd couple movie, I'm trying to play a horror game here...[/rant]

I don't understand your point. Some people find "crap" to be the most offensive term imaginable while others feel "fuck" is a verb, noun, and adjective (ALL AT THE SAME TIME). Profanity is all based on perception. I like to think of them as "sentence enhancers."

Besides, "sick fuck" includes one foul word. "Fucking bastard" includes two. Logic!

Whoa. Did you feel the same about Howard and DJ Ricks in Downpour? Man, you sound awfully bitter though. What were you expecting with Homecoming? I wasn't expecting The Odyssey when I played it, so I guess that's why I wasn't disappointed. I don't think the visuals are all that bad either. Sure... every female character has their hair pinned up. It's a common trick for hair so you don't have to animate it. Mass Effect does the same thing for player-created characters (but with shorter hair added). So does Fallout. It's very rare for a game to have a long haired female character with AMAZING animated hair. I dare you to find me one that doesn't look like its been heavily hairsprayed or jizzed upon. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, it's just not often.

Lol, i was talking to Kenzie Lamar on DA and he said Alex's hair took the same amount of polygons that Judge Holloway's whole model had!
