Are you talking about the subway that took Walter back and forth? I'm lost.

Yeah there's a train that goes from South Ashfield to Silent Hill.

Does anyone know if South Ashfield is referenced at all in SH3 in that subway sequence? I forget the stations there.

The other games don't act like this one exists the way the other games don't act like each other exist. SH1, 3 and Origins were all directly connected but other then those the games are stand alone stories that focus on telling their own individual stories and thats totally fine.

Nope, its not mentioned. One station was St. Renatta College. Ummm, I can't remember the others, but I DO know none ofthem are Ashfield or any of the other towns. None of them are SH, Ashfield, Brahms, or any of the others. Heather is in Portland at this time so she could be pretty far from the rest.

Ah I see, would've been a neat thing.

I often forget Heather is all the way in portland especially considering the subway is modeled after NY.

Ahhhh, there was St. Renatta College, Powell Garden, Bergen Street, and the last one says North End (guessing the north end of the city).

It was bugging me so I had to go look.

I think Homecoming & Downpour missed and opportunity by not having a toilet reference. I loved Henry's "I'm not brave enough.."

In Walter's 'diary' he states that he took a train to get to South Ashfield, which is why it's one of the locations replicated in Walter's world. I'm sure he would have driven, but I believe his visits started when he was a child and I doubt if he ever even owned a car.

Has the entire replica of room 302 in Downpour been mentioned? Because that was a pretty awesome easter egg.

Silent Hill 4's story had a very tight focus. It was about Walter Sullivan and the murders he committed. It also was given a lot of criticism for its level design (revisiting the levels), gameplay (combat, escort), and interface (oh god, the inventory). This is very much different from 2, which was praised endlessly and is remembered by many as the very best of the series. But back to that tight focus, I would say there isn't really much that you could draw from the game as a throwback. There's very little in the game that you can really hone in on for either humorous reference value or as a serious reference that serves other games' stories.

In short, the tight focus of 4 gave it a very compelling narrative, but it's so tight that it's hard to branch anything else off of it without making it look desperate.

SH2 was actually hated on a lot at it's release, it'd be a few years before the worship would kick in.

Despite not being a fan of the ghosts, I liked the Room. But it didn't feel like Silent Hill. And although Downpour referenced it, they did leave its characters out of the surprise ending.

Pretty sure Walter was there. Henry and Eileen never really went to Silent Hill, so it might explain why they're not there.

If you examine the photos in Henry's bedroom he'll make various comments about how Silent Hill was when he went there to take those pictures. So he really did go there at some point prior to the events of SH4. Nobody knows if Eileen has. She probably hasn't.

They both did go to Silent Hill. The Wish House/Forest and the Water Prison are both in Silent Hill. ;) Plus, Henry has been to Silent Hill before.

I always considered that more in Walter's memories than the actual place, but that's my interpretation.

The forest area was more on the outskirts of the town rather than being a direct part of it. But yeah, Henry went to Silent Hill before and took those pictures. It's unknown whether or not Eileen ever went there before. Both of them "went there" in terms of Wally World, though. I'm unsure if Wally's World counts as actually being in SH though, since Wally World is separate from the actual Otherworld.
