Because SH3 needs a thread!

Post by twistedsynergy on Sat Nov 14, 2009 4:54 pm

Silent hill 3 is definately one of my favorites in the series, right up there with Silent hill2 and 1. Anyone else enjoy SH3 as much as I do?! I must have played through that one more times than any of them. I also really like the unlockables for this one, which is part of the reason why the replay value seems to be slightly higher than some of the others (tho I have played all the SH games over and over again :P). Anyway, yeah discuss :)!

I can't express how I feel in words, but I think my screen capture says a lot.
(...yes, that is a 100% perfect ranking on Extreme X with more than 100 playthroughs—it stops at 100.)

I really liked SH3 as well because it was a sequel to the original (and my fav) plus we finally got to play as a kickass female. I can't say I replayed it that many times to get the unlockables since I mainly play to see the story and once is usually enough! SHH is actually the first game I won every ending and got every unlockable instead of just downloading the other endings or looking at screen shots!

Since you are a such big fan, keep your eye on iodinesky's upcoming Silent Hill 3 site it's going to be kickass!

edit: BTW iodinesky that's AMAZING!

I attest to the kick-ass female comment not just because Heather kicked copious amounts of ass, but because she was very multi-dimensional as a character—Heather expressed just about every cardinal emotion in the game and she was overall very well characterized.

"If I fretted over every damn thing, I would have serious mental overload."

For a character that was supposed to be a "typical girl you can find anywhere", she was barely typical—save for her occasional moodswing, but they were justifiable.

And awww, thank you, Whitney!

Completely agree. In my opinion heather is the most diverse and well developed character at that point in the series.

This is my favorite SH, already completed 100%, he finished 60 times, I'm trying to do the best Speedrun, but my record is 46:41.

thanks for the reception, the world record for Sh3 is 41 minutes, I can not imagine such a speed, here is the site of record:

http://speeddemosarchive.com/SilentHill3.html

The record is from 2006, strange that no one has yet managed to overcome it, I'm even given up trying, but maybe one day I can.

The PC version is much easier to speed run on; the loading screens on the PS2 version can be lengthy and kill the flow while the PC version is generally quite seamless when traveling from room to room, except there's always a lengthy loading time in a couple of rooms.

I'd be far more impressed with a Hard/Extreme X action mode run; Easy Mode runs are kind of frivolous.
