The last time I played SH2 I wanted to see how quick I could complete. What I did is run rather than choose to fight and forget about getting all the ammo of health drinks. I also got the dog ending, skipped the cut-scenes and only twice. For that I finished it in 1:59.
Back when I'd play the game from start-to-finish at least once every two weeks (yeah, seriously) my record was 57 minutes and some change. I remember finding the all-time best speedrun and only being one or two minutes off from it.
Does the in-game clock count cut scenes in your time? I never did figure that out. Do you only fight the bosses you can't run past in these speed runs? I've never tried a straight speed run in SH2 (i like to take my time and enjoy the stroll). I only really worry about the time if I'm going for the 10 star rating. I'll have to try one now I suppose!
Yes, this topic answer me, I was curious about the minimum time possible, but never try to do it. I remember making it in 4 hours but still got a good rank, just working focused. The controls must to be good to cross the lake fast. Is there some "outboard motor" in the warehouse to put in the boat? We could safe some time...
The game will fly by if you play in beginner mode. I think the fastest I made it was around an hour and a half, and I wasn't even doing a real 'speed run,' I was just trying to get through the game with some friends, haha.
Oh man you guys are way faster than me. My personal best was exactly 5 hours on normal mode, I got the Maria ending (which I was aiming for). I died on the first Pyramid Head battle so many times that I don't even dare to say it, I started playing in the evening and had to call it quits and try again the next day. Wtf! *hangs head in shame*
That said, I'd love to be able to finish the game in just an hour or so, to pass a quiet evening alone
58 minutes? Seriously? I played a speed run on normal and completed in one hour and forty minutes. I never dawdled once , always went from point a to point b and skipped every cutscene. I am left reeling on how it is possible to complete the game that quickly. Kudos, however.
