ye dude the games amazing & is a masterclass in sound design. I've always been intrigued to complete it ever since I d'loaded it from PSN a few years ago. This was my 1st full experience playing a SH & once I finally got to the school (after several failed attempts) I was absorbed in the game. The school & 1st entry into the hospital provoked a reaction from me I will never forget. I had to seriously pause the game a few times at the school I was that unnerved .

If I ever replay it i'll bear what u said in mind. Now to finish SH2 & DP. After that its 3 & 4 :)

Well good luck on those, and if you ever need any SH1 pointers (if you decide your ever going to play it again) just PM me and I would be glad to help you out. Explain how to go about getting the different endings, etc.

Mike :)

No, the good (no plus) ending is the canon.

You want me to start a new topic in the SH3 section, talking about the strategy and play through of SH3? Is that correct?

Mike ;)

How do u convince some1 to playthrough the game & work around its complexities? (puzzles, controls, map, old school design). The game really starts at the school ;).

I remember my first time playing it. It was 2 or 3 years ago. I used to pause so I could calm down and recover my breathe. But I couldn't stop playing.

devil hunter wrote:Haha I know how you feel. Samw way I felt the first time I played it. It's the scariest game in the series in my opinion.

I thought SH games were the pinnacle of survival horror but then I played Amnesia....oh man...

I really really REALLY want to experience Amnesia :D. Release on consoles already & relieve me of the generic shooter..

3 & 4 had desensitized me, so by the time I got to the original, I wasn't really phased. I think 3 has it beat by miles as far as scare-factors go.

It is funny how well SH1 holds up, considering Homecoming can already feel dated IMHO.

I never found horror games to be 'scary', but Silent Hill is truly a disturbing experience. Even today, I find myself jumping in the sewer. I hated that part. Some of the imagery in the entire series in just... God. The bodies hanging off the walls in the first one always disturbed me because I always thought that they were going to come down and attack me.

Also, if you have a computer from pre 2010, I believe you can run Amnesia. Not great, obviously, but it isn't the most demanding game out there.

I remember many years ago, I had a PS1 and I played SH1 on it. Even though I loved it so much, my obsession with the SH series didn't start precisely with SH1. But it scared the living bejesus out of me, nonetheless.

When I played the game for the first time, I couldn't finish it myself because I was terrified. Couldn't get past the sewer level. But the game was so compelling, and I really cared for the characters and wanted to know the end, so I watched someone else playing and beating it. It was breath taking. I still watch some Let's Plays of it from time to time, but I'm too scared to play it all by myself, though.

But, man, I still remember this weird moment at the hospital in my first experience, though:

So I arrive at this supposedly safe and peaceful hospital, right?
The hospital turns into the hellish and nightmarish version after the strange appearance of the button of the enigmatic 4th floor, right?
And while I'm just running around this crazy place seeing/hearing strange stuff and having nice, short conversations with the lovely and helpful nurses, I find this Grim Reaper's List thing, and the first name on the list is Lydia F...................

........Lydia is my name

That was scary.
I gotta say that the soundtrack was so powerful and effective and it asserts the vagueness of the game's atmosphere.
Like a flame burning away the darkness, life is flesh on bone convulsing above the ground.
