Play as Cybil???

Okay, I scoured over the boards first, so I don't think I'm reposting.
I remember there being talk of content that was cut from SH1 in which you would play as Cybil and cover areas of the town you never saw with Harry. I seem to greatly remember seeing shots of the extra content, but being as that it was unfinished there wasn't much to see. The problem now is that when I go look up anything in the subject I can't find ANY info. I've seen plenty of discussions here on unused or deleted content, but nothing on the Cybil gameplay. Does anyone have any info on this?

This was a popular rumor way back in the day, bolstered by the items Harry could examine but not take in the school's chemical room. I'm pretty sure there wasn't any truth to it, though.

Yeah I don't think this was ever even considered by the devs. If there was a way, it would've been discovered by now.

Yeah, it was a popular rumor. There were a few reasons. As what said, there were items Harry could examine but not pick up. There was also the menu-screen-Harry-looking image of a blond woman who looked more like Lisa than Cybil, but whatever. It looked like a menu screen thing, anyway. Then. later, there was a video of Cybil made to test the SH2 engine. This was not because Cybil was actually meant to be playable, ever, but rather, just to test hardware and such. And last, some might have been confused because Cybil was playable in the Play Novel.

Do you know the source of that video? Did it just appear online, or was it ripped from some third-party game magazine DVD?

Do you know where/when it was filmed? Seems to be an event of some sort.

I am guessing it was at some sort of game convention or such, and they were just showing the types of graphics that one could expect from SH2, but before they had the SH2 character models. I have not seen a real ripped copy, only this crappy cam video, so I don't think it was from a game magazine or anything like that.

Many magazine DVDs/CD-ROMs came with videos shot at conventions. But usually slightly better quality than this.

True dat, but I mean that I am still guessing that either:

(1) someone here would have it, or
(2) someone here would know for sure where it came from

Even with some older game magazines, you can at least find list of what media was on there. I have no information and I'm just guessing, but for those reasons, I think somebody took a video of it at some event and then put it online.

As you know, the pink points on the maps are key places to explore, all the pink places like the: School, Church, the bridge control room and the sewer entrance, are key places to proceed with the story of the game. The places marked with violet color are places where did you find key items but not to proceed with the story of the game, like the: Gas Station and Convenience store 8.

There is a rumor that the pink points that appear in the OLD SH & Central SH map that are not accessible, they were key places to visit with Cybil, for some reason TeamSilent forgot to change the color to those areas.

The question is, why the Green Lion Antiques and the SH Town Center are not marked in pink color??

There's certain versions of the game where Cybil does not appear in the antique shop.

As for the pink markings, yeah, it's clear something is up with that. If they were supposed to be all locations Harry goes, it's missing some. If Cybil was supposed to be there, it's also wrong. But it's clear the pink was supposed to mean something.

In Resident Evil 4 there is "Separate Ways" extra mission with Ada, but in RE3 there is only minigames. Other games were exploring this plus to their games - another character's path, but I think Play One reach it's very limit. Maybe they have tried in SH1 and give up, leaving some traces behind. Now they can do with PS2 and PS3 but they didn't yet. They should because the stories are rich field for that, could be another strong quality of the game.

In which version Cybil doesnt show up in the antique store? Never heard about that before. Well sounds more like a glitch

Technically you do enter the post office (not the building itself, but you go on the roof which is a separate screen), but the other areas might have been looked over. Speaking of Cybil in the Play Novel, I wonder what storyline would be canon for her? The bloopers FMV from SH1 shows her in the graveyard from the end of one of her scenarios and one of the pictures on the wall in the Alchemilla Exam room has the graveyard as well, so it's possible her death would be inevitable in the game if it were included.

I recently played SH1 again and the way she appears in the game each time and how it's all set up, I really wouldn't be surprised one bit if it was at some point planned to switch to Cybil during the game, namely after Otherworld transitions. Cybil would have to make her way to the alley, school, The Green Lion and the lighthouse...my guess is it simply wasn't interesting and original after Resident Evil 2 had come out and they simply dropped the idea.

Also in RE3 you have to play with the mercenary in the middle of the game. But I was thinking about a mini-game like "Born from a wish" of SH2.

There is no way onto the roof of the Post Office. If you mean by way of the fire escape ladder, that leads to the roof of the first building east of the Post Office.
