UFO ending glitch? wtf?

Post by Robbie123 on Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:22 pm

So I was playing Silent Hill 1 on my ps2, I used the channeling stone in all the areas I'm supposed too, when I finally got to the light house, I used it there, and I saw a short animation with the UFO's that you usually see in the other areas, but I did'nt get the ending for some reason. :| It's supposed to end there.... what the hell.

I'm not sure if i got this because of what I did earlier, before I went to the light house, I did
REVEAL SPOILER
save kaufman at annies bar and do the part with the motorcycle where you trigger that scene with the pissed off kaufman.
I know these are two requirements you need to fill to get the
REVEAL SPOILER
good ending and good+ ending.
I did these two parts anyway with
REVEAL SPOILER
kaufmann
, just because I could but I did'nt think they played into what kind of ending you get. After using the Channeling stone in all the areas I figured at the lighthouse after using it I would automatically get the UFO ending... Could someone please explain why I did'nt get it... >:(

UFO ending glitch? wtf?

Post by Robbie123 on Mon Jul 09, 2012 8:43 pm

So I decided to continue after the lighthouse part. I decided I was going to get the "good" ending instead since I wasn't able to end the game there with the UFO ending. I finally got to the part with
REVEAL SPOILER
cybil, I killed her, even thought I had the red liquid stuff, but I did it only to get the good ending,
The weirdest thing happened, after I killed the boss and the cutscene of her dying played, the screen stayed black for a while with the music still playing, like... it was stuck. It was like some kind of loading glitch. Wth... Anyway I had to restart my ps2 and fight the
REVEAL SPOILER
cybil
boss AGAIN. :| I finnished the game from there (After I killed cybil and saved kaufman/trigged the pissed off scene) and I got the Bad+ ending... what the hell? Glitchy ending system...

Are you sure you used the Channeling Stone in the correct locations throughout the game?

REVEAL SPOILER
Rooftop of Nightmare School. The yard in the Nightmare Hospital area. Inside Norman's Hotel in the Resort Area part of town, as well as inside the boat there. Then the roof of the Lighthouse.

Dude, I'm stumped.
You either aren't hitting all the locations, or your disk is somehow faulty. That's all I've got. Le sorries!

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

That's weird, I got the UFO ending on my second play through. I used the Channeling stone 1.) On the rooftop of the school (alternate school), 2.) In the courtyard of the alternate hospital (right before going across the street to fight Floatstinger), 3.) In the parking lot of the motel (right outside of where the rooms are), 4.) In the boat (after talking to Cybil and Dahlia), 5.) Then on top of the lighthouse (after seeing the vision of Alessa). The only thing I didn't do that you said you did was save Kaufman. I just skipped all of that. Don't know for sure but maybe that had something to do with it? ;)

I really think so. Really sucks though, one of my favorite PS1 games and then it has these glitches. I think it might have to do with the way it was designed, the ending system. I still don't understand the part with the
REVEAL SPOILER
cybil
boss.

Also, another thing that sucks, on a "next fear" game, I've played through it three times now, (I started on easy on my first game.) and at the end of the game when I try to play another one after the one I completed, a window will pop up saying: "Next game on: Hard. Y? N?" So I basically have no choice but to play it on hard on a next fear game. D: It's only on a next fear game that I can get the extra weapons... :(

AND another thing... I remember playing SH1 on the PC three years ago, and the graphics and the music were amazing, I recently got a ps2 and I've been playing SH1 obviously on it, I've noticed some changes...During the cybil boss fight while playing it on the PS2, there's supposed to be this really creepy boss music playing on it, (I remember hearing it on the PC when I played it.) but it didn't play for some reason. Also I'be been reading about something called a "emulator" for the PS1 and 2? What is it? :geek:

Hey Robbie, yeah it must have something to do with it? If you used the channeling stones at all the correct places the only thing that could have messed it up for you was doing the Kaufman side quest. It had to be what screwed the ending up for you. I know it's a lot to play through the game again but just make sure to skip over that part for sure the next time you go for it.

As far as the difficulty goes in the "Next Fear" mode. I played it on normal so when I finished the game it made sense for me to have to play on hard the next time. In your case it should of made you play the "Next Fear" in normal mode if you played it in easy mode on your first time through. Then when you beat the game on normal you'll then have to play it on hard the next time through. That is weird, I'm not sure why the game made you play it on hard the next time through. Sense I played on normal it naturally went to hard, I wished I would of played it on easy to see if it would of made me play it on hard the next time through like you had to. I believe that everything I have read says that " if you play on easy, you'll have to play on normal the next time through, and same thing with normal, you'll have to play on hard the next time".

I play SH1 on an emulator, I have the ePSXe PS1 emulator on my lab top. As far as the PS2 emulator goes, my lab top isn't new enough to run it cleanly so I don't even bother trying the PS2 emulator. Unless you have a pretty new lab top or computer, you may or may not be able to run that emulator. I'm sure you won't have a problem running a PS1 emulator as the technology is pretty old. In my personal opinion I would prefer playing the games on the PS1 console itself over an emulator. The emulator is nice because of the wide range of games to choose from to download, but that is really about it.

If you want to get an emulator and at least check it out here is some info for you:
Place to download a good emulator: www.emulator-zone.com/
Place to download games: www.doperoms.com/, romhustler.net/, www.coolrom.com/
One thing you will want to download: Winrar
One thing to make your game play better: Go buy a logitech game controller that plugs into your usb port. (you will definitely want this....try playing silent hill 1 with your key board on your computer, it really sucks and it's hard as hell because of all the different buttons)

Anyways if you really want to try an emulator, PM me and I can help you out.

Mike

I don't think it's the Kaufmann thing, because the only things you need to do are those with the Channeling Stone. You can play the rest of the game however you want to. :/ If you used the stone in all the right places, I think that it has to be your game glitching...

Most likely this is simply a PS2 emulation bug, a rare one at that. Never heard about this before, but then again I never played SH1 on a PS2 before. They were rare, but sometimes glitches would appear on random PS1 games at times when being emulated on the PS2. Either that or your disc is a bit faulty somehow.
