Silent Hill in HD?

I would like to see it remastered in HD. Don't get me wrong, I love the original just how it is, and it is probably my favorite game in the series (next to maybe...Silent Hill 2). Because the graphics aren't very "crisp" is part of what makes it so good. At the same time though, I've played through it so many times that I think it would be interesting to play it in a different light, so to speak. I was reading something on the reason why they didn't convert Silent Hill 1 over to HD and converted Silent Hill 2, and 3 instead. They were saying that it had something to do with the format that Silent Hill 1 was made on and that it would have taken a lot longer to convert it to whatever format they would have had to use for the Xbox 360 and PS3. However, myself personally would love to see it in HD, and I feel that it would almost be like playing a whole new game considering how bad the graphics were and how much of an improvement the HD graphics would be comparatively. I guess the only downfall would be how BAD Silent Hill 2 and 3 came out after the HD "up grade", if you even want to call it that. I thought the fog looked so horrible in SH2, and that is such a big part of the game an it's creepiness. Plus changing a lot of the dialog was totally unnecessary. I was looking so forward to the HD versions of SH2 and 3 and it just ended up being a huge let down. With that said if by some stroke of luck SH1 does get converted, I would hope that they would take a long look at the problems they created in converting SH2 an 3 in HD, so that SH1 would not end up being released to such poor reviews and disappointed fans.

I don't really see how they can upgrade SH 1 unless they make a remake.

^^^^ agreed, they would almost have to do something like Resident Evil did when Nintendo and the GameCube had the rights to RE there for a little while. They ended up coming out with RE Zero which was a spruced up version of the original basically.

I think that would probably work better if they went that route, I wasn't even thinking about that until you said it ^^Devil Hunter. They should approach it same way RE did when they came out with Zero. Isn't it nice to dream...cause who knows if this will ever even happen, but it's nice to try an imagine how it would be if they did convert it.

Resident Evil: 0 was an original (and not very fun) game. I think you're thinking of the self-titled REmake.

^^ yes you are completely right. It's been so long sense I played those games that I just had them mixed up. Your right about zero not being very fun. It was definitely one of my least favorite in the RE series.

Your right about SH1, it is just fine how it is and nothing needs to be changed about it. Being that it was for the PS1 the graphics are not the greatest, but they don't need to be, that's the simplicity of it. It delivers without having to be some graphical stand out cause it isn't, but what it did excel at is setting the mood, getting you into the game, and scaring the crap out of you. If they never remake it, that's fine with me, but I think a remake would be interesting to see and I would definitely play it if one did in fact come out. We can only wait and see.

With all due respect, nope. I won't leave it alone because its something that myself and many other people actually want to see. I realize that most likely they'll never do it. I love the original too, and we'll still be able to play it. Generally I hate remakes of anything, but since the graphics of the first one aren't on the same level as the rest of the series, I think this is an exception to the rule.

I would love to see this happen, seeing as how I hate playing games in the 4x3 aspect ratio anymore. My only concern is if the remake ends up looking technically better than the sequels. That would be a bit jarring to go from a pristine high poly SH1 right into SH2 and SH3, both originating on the PS2. Still, this would be me nitpicking, nothing more
