Any significance of the time 5 o'Clock in Silent Hill?

Post by Hazardsfury on Tue May 29, 2012 2:04 pm

Just thinking about this today, was wondering if there is a deeper meaning to this specific time? On two occurrences 5 o'clock is encountered in Silent Hill, firstly the clock tower puzzle, it's the last time on the clock before Harry first enters the otherworld, also and I've only just recently discovered this today, but when you put the Stone of Time in the grandfather clock located in the Unknown "Antique store" the clock chimes five times, seems a little specific doesn't it? Now I may be looking too deeply into this or for all I know missing something completely obvious.. Just wondering if it had some other deeper meaning like the 4th floor in Alchemia Hospital.

Any thoughts?

Nothing comes to mind, honestly. Maybe 5 o'clock was when some event happened in the past lol. Probably either a random reference to a movie or book (like many things in the game) or maybe it's something that's yet to have been found out.

It could just be the use of a repeated texture. :3

Well that's the thing on the second instance it is a sound effect, not a texture, which is why I thought it was a little bit too specific.

Maybe it's the time the fire started?

It's time for a drink!
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.

The sound just corroborates that specific instance of the clock being at 5pm. If it was any different, we'd be talking about a mistake in the game. :) It could mean something, but I'm willing to bet it's just a coincidence.

A coincidence in Silent Hill!? :P Naaa you're probably right. Could be like schlaufuchsMIKE and be the time of the fire... but there isn't enough evidence to support that.
